PhD in Philosophy, University of California–Riverside

BA in Philosophy and Literature, Ursinus College

My PhilPeople profile.

Over the years, I’ve worked with people from a wide range of writing backgrounds. Prior to establishing my own editing business, I worked in academia for nearly two decades—at selective liberal arts colleges and regional public universities—and taught courses on critical thinking, college composition, and introductory and advanced philosophy courses. I also taught grammar and writing to high school students, many of whom were first- and second-generation Americans writing in English as a second or third language.

But, by far, my most rewarding experiences were mentoring students through extended writing projects and working with colleagues to improve their writing. Since then, I’ve worked with clients on creative nonfiction, academic articles and book chapters, and dissertations.

I’ve published numerous peer-reviewed articles in leading disciplinary journals, several book reviews, and a number of general audience essays. I served as a peer-reviewer for nine academic journals. I am also at work on my own creative fiction.

I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, the American Society for Indexing, and Northern Colorado Writers.

Along the way, I've accrued extensive experience in editing language and developmental editing. I’ve helped shape the concept, content, organization, and style of many pieces of writing.
